From 1987 this airplane was used by P Ponk Aviation in Alaska and Washington as a “test bed” for a number of STC projects, including a 500 hour endurance run for certification of the O-470-50 Engine, certification of McCauley and Hartzell Propellers, P Ponk Rudder/Elevator Bearings and P Ponk Quick Inspection Plates, all which have been issued FAA STCs. The plane has also been used for testing of the Cont. O-550 Engine (installed under FAA Field Approval), and for demonstrations.

The plane was placed in and out of “Experimental” over the years, and currently holds a Standard Airworthiness Certificate. It has been highly modified for “bush” and cargo use. (See listing that follows.). All modifications are approved under STCs or FAA Field Approvals, with copies of 337s and approvals in the aircraft records.
